Nailed it! 💅

10 participants recently completed a nail art course in our Entrepreneurship Program with @eftcfoundation. With a certificate in hand, these ladies, (including 4 moms!), can now take these skills to get a job in a salon or even open up their own shop! We love seeing your generosity in action as it helps open doors for talented entrepreneurs. Vamos!

A new teacher means a new trainee in our Teacher Training program and…NEW books!

Your generous donations continue to fund our blossoming literacy program at La Escuela Chicamen. We are able to provide engaging chapter books for older students and copies for the youngest readers to practice phonics skills (printed at Entrepreneurship Loan recipient, Cafe Luna!). Teachers use these books to put into action what they learn through our training program. We love seeing children’s eyes light up when book are opened. Thanks to you. Vamos!

Please join us in congratulating the graduates of the most recent Entrepreneurship Program course! How cool is it to see a figurative lightbulb come on as you literally make a lightbulb come on? That’s what this program is all about. Opening minds and opening doors to what’s possible. These young men now have the needed skills to get a job and potentially own their own shop one day. Thanks to the @eftcfoundation for being amazing partners as always. Vamos!

Dream-weaving…literally! After the first round

Dream-weaving…literally!

After the first round of artisan bag making classes, Mercedes got a job with @theamadocollection . This round, she paid it forward and taught what she had learned. For the first time, an Entrepreneurship Program workshop was open to the entire School of Hope family, so not only did 6 students complete the course, but 2 mothers of students did as well! Thanks to materials, techniques, and guidance from Amado, participants learned the intricacies of making these popular canasta bags and together made 60+ bags that they can now sell.

These workshops not only teach entrepreneurial skills, but like Mercedes has shown, we really are focusing on how that translates into actual employment. Now, armed with a new skill, these ladies can go seek employment or venture out on their own. Vamos, chicas! And thanks as always to the @eftcfoundation for facilitating these dream-weaving workshops!
